Where I’ve Been

5 minutes

Hi everyone! It’s sure been a while :))

I’m sorry for abruptly disappearing on everyone for almost an entire year. While I intended on consistent posts over the summer, it just wasn’t feasible since I had other priorities at the time.

I’ve very much enjoyed my time away from posting, however, I do want to start posting on here again. I’ve definitely missed having a creative writing outlet, and one of my New Years resolutions is to start posting on here again.

Anyways, I wanted to give you an update as to where I’ve been and why I haven’t posted since May of last year.

During my hiatus, I’ve decided blogging for me will be a fall and winter hobby. Something I realized this past summer is how much I hate being on my screen during such amazing weather. Especially since I’m Canadian and as beautiful as they can be, I do deal with all four seasons, and I want to try and soak up as much sun as I can while I’m able to.

And I could absolutely take my laptop outside with me and sit on my back porch, which I do, but I really like using my outside time to be creative in other ways. Such as conceptualizing scenes for the book I’m writing.

As of right now (and please take this with a grain of salt), I’m thinking of drafting up a bunch of posts so I can automatically post those during the summer to stay consistent and have content for here while honouring my wishes with my outdoor creative time. And I say to take it with a grain of salt because I want to be as transparent as possible with everyone while still leaving room to change my mind if I see fit. I don’t want anyone to gain hope and then fall flat on my end, I just want to let everyone know where my head is at currently.

Now, another thing to note; I’m in my very last semester of my Media Communications diploma. I’m currently on my third week of classes and haven’t been able to properly gauge how busy I’m going to be. I do have a bit more downtime between classes this semester, but I really don’t want to overwhelm myself and add one more routine thing to my list.

This being said, I want to post on here as frequently as I can this year. I just can’t promise routine posts on a specific set day. In the past, my monthly Wrap Ups were posted on the first of every month or the first Saturday of the month, and I don’t want to marry myself to one set day going forward. I want to take this as chill as I possibly can while still fulfilling my other current obligations with school.

In an ideal world, I’d love to post weekly but with my current schedule it’s just not possible considering the mental energy I have to conserve for school. I like to take my time with my posts and I don’t like to write about something meaningless to myself. I don’t post just to post, I really do love taking my time with it and I take great pride in every single word I type. I don’t want to lose that feeling by making this something I have to do just because I placed that expectation on myself.

Going forward, I want to write more stand alone think pieces on some of the media I spend time with each month. I won’t be able to do everything I come across or engage with, but I absolutely will for the ones where I find myself reflecting on a lot of stuff. I’m thinking of writing them in a similar way as my Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes review featured in my March 2025 Wrap Up, except the entire post would be dedicated to one piece of media. I might even take some of my past reviews in my Wrap Ups and expand on them since I omit a good portion of my thoughts for the sake of keeping the reviews small.

At some point within these next two months, I want to take a crack at recording and uploading my first ever YouTube video. I’ve mentioned it before in previous posts and never felt the timing was right, but after almost a year and a half of nervous system repairs, I finally feel confident enough throw a new creative project at all the wall. Ultimately, I want to take my posts and record them as videos so my community can choose the way they want to engage with my content.

I’m absolutely not asking for you to do both, so please do not feel obligated to engage on both websites. I would super appreciate if you did and will be forever grateful, but that’s not the goal for me. I want every one of my community members to put themselves first and to choose what works best for you. Some people like reading information more than hearing it whereas others prefer the opposite, and I think it’d be fun to try and do both. So it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved :))

I’ve been on YouTube as a viewer for as long as I can remember and it’s always been a goal of mine – any of my close friends and a few family members could tell you that – so why not take a shot at it?

Anyways! I’ve found a bunch of new songs I want to chat about and I want to make an entire post dedicated to those, along with some shows and movies I’ve watched. And!! The books I’ve read! Oh my god, I read so many books this past year, I haven’t had the chance to fully voice my thoughts and opinions on, so be on the look out for dedicated posts about each of those mediums as well.

That’s it for now, again I’m so sorry for taking as long of a hiatus as I did. Thank you for reading and keep your eyes peeled for more content soon!
